In Holland, at the Royal Conservatoire of The Hague, four musicians from the four corners of the world come together in 2023 to form a jazz quartet known as The Tonal Few. Antonin, Swiss vibraphonist, Geraldo, Indonesian saxophonist, Jarod, French bassist and Ewen, French drummer, have found their harmony amidst the halls of the school and the jazz clubs of this vibrant city.

The meeting of these four artists was the beginning of a musical adventure as unexpected as it was stimulating. Despite their diverse origins, a deep connection was established between them from the very first moment, fueled by their shared love for jazz and their mutual desire to convey original music to the widest audience.

Inspired by their personal experiences and their common passion for musical exploration, they began creating music that transcends borders and genres. Skillfully blending influences from jazz, groove, pop, and world music, they have developed a unique sound that is both familiar and fresh, traditional and innovative.

At the heart of their collaboration lies a deep camaraderie and friendship, which manifest not only in their collective music but also in their creative collaboration. Antonin quickly realized that his composition style was complementary with ideas of the others, creating a harmonious balance between complexity of writing and authentic freshness.

Thus, „The Tonal Few“ is a celebration of unity in diversity, an ode to friendship and creativity that transcends borders and cultural barriers. Their music transports and takes listeners on a captivating and authentic sonic journey.

In October 2024, The Tonal Few is the laureate band of Laren Jazz Awards.
